Fringe 2017

For the second year in a row I worked as an Artworker for the Fringe Society. I was responsible for a whole variety of printed materials including the Main Fringe Programme, Fringe Central Programme, box office and shop signage, merchandise and much more. 2017 was a particularly exciting year because it was the 70th anniversary of the charity. As a result there were a number of different marketing campaigns that came together in the branding and advertising, all of which I juggled in various different print medias. Shown here are examples of my work that year.

Programme + Schools Poster Competition

A significant part of my job was delivering the main 400 page programme alongside the Lead Designer. This includes designing the cover, typesetting and formatting over 3000 individual shows which are imported into Adobe InDesign via an XML file and placing/flight checking all third-party advertising.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary, the Fringe Society chose 3 programme covers from their Schools Poster Competition, a community outreach programme they have been running for many years. These original A3 posters were vectorised, tidied and unified into a consistent style by myself using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. They were also made into various other commercial materials eg. pop-up banners, magnets, posters and postcards.

Fringe Central Programme

I was tasked with producing the Programme of events held for participants of the Fringe. This is an A5 60 page document which was designed using the 2017 campaign guidelines. You can find an electronic version of the booklet here.
