Shared Shopping Lists – for iOS users

This feature is an example of why I love Apple. I don’t know when it first came to exist but I found out about it last night and I must share it with you! I have literally been waiting for this feature and requested it several times on the apple website (yes, I do believe they listen to our feedback).

So what is it? Well, you know the reminders app that was introduced with iOS 6, well now you can share lists. For me this has one single but time and money saving purpose – shared shopping lists. This should definitely be used if you are more than one person in a house and you all have iPhones.

They’ve made it just a little bit secret to set up; it cannot be done on the iPhone itself, you must set it up online. So let’s do it.

Go to www.icloud.com and sign in using your apple ID and password (the same details you use to buy apps, music etc..). Go into the reminders section. You should be able to see all the lists you have, if haven’t created a shopping list already you can do it by pressing the plus button.

Now to share a list, it’s quite simple. You just need to click on the network-like button (sort of like a wifi icon)  and a box will appear asking you to add people. Just type in their email address (it will search your contacts as you type).

This will send an email to the person asking them to join.

Clicking the Join Reminders list will take them to a page where they will be asked to log into their own iCloud account (using their iTunes account/Apple ID) and Tah dah!

One thing that is a little confusing (I think) is finding the different lists on the iPhone if you are already in a list. All you have to do is swipe down.

Thats it. I hope SOMEONE finds this as exciting as I do..
